So my white stretch suede for Rebels Leia came and I am… not enthused.

It’s actually a really beautiful fabric with a nice drape. Just waaaay thinner than I thought it would be. Just sticking it in the stash for something else in the future.

I’m being soo picky about Rebels Leia fabric because I really haven’t worn anything skintight like this in ages and I’m definitely not the shape I was last time I was actively doing superhero costumes. So I want something thicker than a thin spandex that might cling in a way that doesn’t look great. Something heavier that will skim over any areas I don’t like, y know?

After digging for another option for hours I decided to switch it up. I was really stuck on suede because I feel like the textures in Rebels kinda lends itself to a suede-like material with a nap. But not so much like a velvet. I finally found a crepe scuba that I’m going to try. It’s on its way.

That was the extent of my Rebels Leia progress last week. I did get some work done on Nadja though.

Working out the shapes in this striped fabric I got on clearance at Joann. Pretty happy with the chest portion so far. This was the first sleeve attempt – I originally had it as a 3 part sleeve but after looking at references again decided a 2 part would be better so I got rid of the seam at the mid-arm/elbow area.

Much better. I do still think I need to go wider but it’s closer.

I didn’t get to do a lot this weekend, but I did start figuring out the upper skirt paneling.

These front panels are the ones I’m most concerned with getting right. Not so concerned about the back. But am going to go ahead and pattern the rest of that upper skirt out to make sure I’ve got the width good and all. Not going to pattern the lower skirt since it’s just a basic skirt.

And I DID get my fabric swatch for the real thing…

Overall decently happy with it but it did need some tweaking. A little bit smaller + messing with the opacity of the stripes. So second swatch is now on its way. I also need to start sourcing a thin yellow ribbon for the yellow stripes, but kinda want to wait at least til I have a workable swatch of the real fabric first.

In other news… that’s basically it.

Kevin came over Friday. We played star wars lego. Saturday morning he helped us with some yardwork, then that evening we took him to get ramen and see Super Mario Bros. The Mario movie was cute.

Sunday was easter of course. We did a small amount of yardwork in the morning then headed to Kevin’s for easter lunch.

There was a star trek in my burger.

Didn’t get home til about 5-ish, took a nap because my battery was dead. Then got up, had dinner, and did nothing the rest of the night.

So this week the plan is to finish up the Nadja mock-up, get the pieces transferred to paper with notes. Get packed for Huntsville. Maybe do a little on Rebels Leia if the new fabric shows in time.

Hoping to maybe do a wedding Leia shoot this weekend, but depends on the weather. If it rains at all, not doing it.
